On December 27, ,everbright institute of semiconductor photonics co., ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Everbright Photonics, signed a project investment cooperation agreement with the Suzhou Science & Technology Town Management Committee. It plans to build a new advanced compound semiconductor optoelectronic platform in Suzhou Science & Technology Town. Such project covers a total area of about 31 mu, with a total investment of about 1 billion yuan.
This contracted project focuses on business expansion and investment incubation of optoelectronic and compound semiconductors, aims at an internationally top level so as to build a platform to research, develop and industrialize advanced devices developed on the basis of materials, processes and packaging technologies for optoelectronic and electronic devices based on various compound semiconductors.
Objective for the platform construction
The construction period of the platform is 2 years. The platform is planned to be started in 2023 and completed and put into operation in 2025. After the platform is completed, it will have an annual output of 100 million chips and 5 million devices. The R&D and process platform is provided with the R&D and production capacity to support a full range of compound semiconductor devices. On top of the current internationally leading 6-inch compound production line, the technical R&D conditions and R&D and production will be promoted to reach an internationally top level in an all-round way, the capacity to substitute domestic devices and modules import in many fields will be provided, and every effort will be made to build a new ecological chain for laser localization industry in China where governments, capitals, industries, regions, research institutes and enterprises, upstream and downstream sections cooperate with each other in innovation and the supply chains are linked. As a result, China’s laser industry will be boosted in its scientific and technological innovation.

The contract signing for this project is an important measure for Everbright Photonics to fully implement its development strategy "one platform, one fulcrum, horizontal expansion, and vertical extension".
